This September, the DStv Delicious International Food & Music Festival Powered by LottoStar will return to the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit with a lineup that promises to be nothing short of spectacular. As South Africa commemorates 30 years of creative freedom, this year’s festival will celebrate the nation’s rich cultural heritage with a fusion of music, food, art, and fashion.

Headlining the event are global music legends Janet Jackson and Jill Scott, both of whom have left an indelible mark on the music industry. Janet Jackson, the multi-award-winning R&B and pop icon who has sold over 100 million records, will bring her electrifying presence to the stage. Joining her is the beloved neo-soul singer-songwriter Jill Scott, known for her powerful voice and profound lyrics. These international superstars will be joined by South Africa’s finest, including Thandiswa Mazwai, Sjava, and the Grammy Award-winning Soweto Gospel Choir, ensuring a weekend filled with unforgettable performances.

The festival is set to be a vibrant celebration of South Africa’s journey since 1994, when the nation held its first democratic elections. This monumental event marked the beginning of a new era of freedom, allowing the country’s creatives to express themselves with renewed vigor and pride. Now, three decades later, the festival will not only showcase world-class music but also shine a spotlight on the country’s cutting-edge art and fashion scenes.

This year’s festival, taking place over the heritage weekend on September 21 and 22, will also feature a special tribute performance honoring the legends of South Africa’s music industry. An ensemble of stellar musicians, including Boom Shaka, Cassper Nyovest, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, and Sipho “Hotstix” Mabuse, will come together to pay homage to the greats of yesteryear in the 30 Years of Creative Freedom Show.

Saturday will see Thandiswa Mazwai take the stage, fresh from her acclaimed TinyDesk x globalFEST set for NPR, along with the electronic dance music pioneer G-Force and the legendary Oskido, who will deliver a newly crafted DJ set with a live band. The night will culminate with a performance by the one and only Janet Jackson, whose presence is sure to set the stage ablaze.

On Sunday, the Soweto Gospel Choir will uplift the crowd with their soul-stirring melodies, followed by a live performance by Sjava and a continued celebration with The Maestro (aka Greg Maloka) on the decks. The festival will conclude in style with a velvet-smooth performance by Jill Scott, rounding off what promises to be a weekend of music, culture, and celebration.

Festival co-founders Tom Pearson-Adams and Lloyd Cornwall expressed their excitement for this year’s event, highlighting the importance of celebrating South Africa’s exceptional creative and cultural talent. “We are thrilled to be returning with a very special commemorative festival to celebrate 30 years of creative freedom in South Africa,” they said. “This year, we’re expanding our focus to include a spotlight on our country’s innovative artists and fashion designers, showcasing the best of what South Africa has to offer.”

Multichoice’s Group Chief Marketing Officer, Yatish Narsi, echoed this sentiment, noting that the company, founded in 1994, shares a special milestone with the nation. “Our business has grown alongside South Africa’s young democracy, and we are honored to have played a role in enriching the lives of South Africans through DStv,” he said. “This festival has become South Africa’s premier lifestyle and entertainment event, and we are delighted to once again be on board, celebrating 30 years of creative freedom.”
