Dannywired got to chat with Dr G Maweni who was one of the guests at the restaurant about her experience and this is what she had to say:
“This establishment is amazing, it has a vibe to it and the music is amazing, the DJ really knows which crowd he is playing for but most of all this is an upmarket restaurant… this is my kind of vibe I want to be at. You knowing coming here forces you to doll up and look the part – I mean look at how beautiful it is inside”

What were the risks of setting up this establishment during the pandemic?

Shuuu that’s a good question. With all that is happening people were looking for something that is different. In my crazy mind I thought that people were tired of being locked up and many wanted to go out but at the same time a lot of people wanted to feel like they below and wanted to be in a space which felt like home. Just take a look at the atmosphere here, you have a sense that everyone knows each other and in reality most of the people here don’t know one another and that’s what we were going for. We are know for bringing people together and that was a risk we knew was going to be easy to take as we bring people together all the time.

Gushima is known for opulence and the luxurious look and feel in the way which you guys do things. While setting up shop, what experience did you want your clientele experience from being within this establishment?

You are absolutely right we are know for all thing high end and when we started this restaurant we wanted people to also experience that exact look and feel we are know for starting from entering the premises all the way to the luxury food which we serve as well as the vibe. Perere the restaurant if you have noticed plays right in the middle of a fine dine restaurant and a club and people really wanted a balance of the two worlds and not many restaurants have establishments like ours and I can count them by hand.

You are celebrating the first anniversary of Perere. What has shocked him the most?

I’m shocked that we have survived. I took the risk. I was nervous but I knew it was going to work

Where to from here?

I can’t say much but we are definitely scaling up and want to be everywhere, just keep up with us on the socials for more developments.
