World renowned textile designer Laduma Ngxokolo has lent his skills to the creation of a unique and exclusive Maxhosa tapestry rug, the design of which was inspired by his limited-edition heritage collaboration with Tastic earlier this year. The collaboration was built across the principles of education as a key focus for the MaXhosa brand, and giving back being a brand principle for Tastic. The Ubuntu Rug is tufted with 100% wool. The fibre is dyed with colors that are traditionally Xhosa inspired.
Through this collaboration TasticXLadumaeducational fund was born and driven by the need to support students across South Africa by giving them access to higher education and paving the way for future leaders. Laduma will be hosting an auction for this rug of which The public is invited to make a pledge towards the fund by donating a financial seed. “The MaXhosa brand was born from my graduation thesis project at NMMU, so education is something very personal to me” says Laduma Ngxokolo. “The story of my success is routed in how someone demonstrated the spirit of Ubuntu by investing in my education, and I feel privileged to be able to contribute to changing someone’s life the way mine was changed”, he adds.

“We have created this education fund in collaboration with Laduma to support students across South Africa by giving them access to higher education. Tastic has pledged a total of R270,000.00 to the fund and now, we encourage others to embody the spirit of Ubuntu and bid for this special rug.
